October 27, 2004 -- American Historic Inns, Inc., publisher of more than 2.5 million bed & breakfast guidebooks, has announced the Top 10 California Bed & Breakfast Inns, as voted by US inn visitors.

The Top 10 California Bed & Breakfast Inns were chosen after 8.2 million households in California were invited to vote at www.iLoveInns.com for their favorite inn through a promotion sponsored by Ralphs Supermarkets, American Historic Inns, Inc., KFRG Radio, Minutemaid, Thomas English Muffins, and Perrier. One voter was randomly awarded a $500 prize toward a getaway at the Bed and Breakfast Inn of their choice.

Among favorite B&Bs are an inn with a spectacular cliff side setting, a romantic cubist style get-a-way in La Jolla, and a handful of elegant garden retreats featuring high tea, gourmet cuisine, and superb hospitality.

2004 Top 10 California Bed and Breakfast Inns include the following:
Brewery Gulch Inn, Mendocino - (800)578-4454
Simpson House Inn, Santa Barbara - (800)676-1280
A Victorian Heritage Park Inn, San Diego - (800)995-2470
Black Bear Inn, South Lake Tahoe - (877)232-7466
The Bed & Breakfast Inn at La Jolla, La Jolla - (800)582-2466
Old Monterey Inn, Monterey - (800)350-2344
The Jabberwock, Monterey - (888)428-725
Channel Road Inn, Santa Monica - (310)459-1920
Seven Gables Inn, Pacific Grove - (831)372-4341
Candlelight Inn, Napa - (800)624-0395

Adam Kamlet, inn frequenter and winner of the $500 promotion prize, chose the Brewery Gulch Inn of Mendocino as his all-time favorite. It is the perfect antidote to treat the "city buzz" of San Francisco. There are surprises at every turn: large fireplaces in each room; lovingly tended gardens; evening wine hour; fruit picked from their own trees; organic eggs from their own chickens; hearty, wholesome breakfasts...and warm hospitality, said Kamlet.

American Historic Inns, Inc., Deborah Sakach, hosted the online voting process at www.iLoveInns.com. Her hopes are that the Top 10 California Inns will inspire vacationers to find inns that they will want to come back to over and over again. Samuel Johnson once said that There is nothing which has yet been contrived by man, by which so much happiness is produced as by a good tavern or inn. The timelessness and truth of this 18th century British writers statement is still enjoyed by inn stayers around the world, said Sakach.

In addition to the Top 10 California Bed & Breakfast Inns, more than 3,000 other quality bed & breakfasts are featured on the website.
